The Yotilla Workflow

This section describes the overall workflow for building a data warehouse using Yotilla. For detailed descriptions of each step, click on the respective boxes in the flowchart or on the links below.

Before you start building the data warehouse configuration in Yotilla, you must add the necessary roles, users, and schemas in the target database. For more details, see Prepare the Target Database.

1. Define the Target System

The first step is to define the target system and a target system connection.

This step is only carried out once per configuration in Yotilla. To create a data warehouse on a different target system, you must create a new configuration. The target system and target system connection are defined using TinML.

See Define a Target System.

2. Define Source Systems

You define the source systems on the Source Systems page. The source data must be located in an external staging area on the target system. In Yotilla, the external staging area is seen as a source system.

See Define Source Systems and Data Flow.

3. Configure Sources and Business Objects

Scan the data sources, map sources to business objects, and add the necessary business attributes and business references on the Sources page.

See Configure Sources and Business Objects.

4. Extend Business Objects

Extend the business objects with calculated measures and attributes by creating business formulas on the Catalog page.

See Extend Business Objects.

5. Configure the Dimensional Model

Define the dimensions to be used in the data warehouse on the Dimensional Model page.

See Configure the Dimensional Model.

6. Deploy the Data Warehouse

The final step is to deploy the configured data warehouse on the target system. Deployment is done using TinML.

See Deploy the Data Warehouse.
