Innovation release
Exasol 8 Innovation releases provide you with quick access to the latest features and developments. There are two Innovation releases every year.
Each Innovation release is supported until the next Innovation release is published plus 3 months, which allows you enough time to update to the latest release while still receiving full support.
Long Term Support (LTS) release
One of the Innovation releases each year becomes a Long Term Support (LTS) release. An LTS release has a focus on stability and reliability and will not receive new features during its support period.
An LTS release is fully supported for an additional two (2) years beyond the initial Innovation release support period. During this period, the LTS release will only receive bugfixes and security updates.
Rolling Release (RR)
Exasol 8 was previously released using a rolling release model. This release stream is now deprecated. We recommend that you update to Exasol 2025.1.0 or later.
Naming conventions
The naming convention for Innovation/LTS releases is YYYY.N.X, where YYYY is the year, N is the number of the Innovation release, and X is the consecutive number of bugfix releases based on this Innovation/LTS release.
For example, Exasol 2025.1.0 is the first Innovation release in 2025, and Exasol 2025.1.1 is the first bugfix release based on this release.
Rolling releases use the naming convention 8.N.X.
