Configure Node Properties
You can configure the node properties from EXAoperation in the following situations:
- When adding a new node. Refer to Add and Activate Data Nodes for additional information.
- When editing a node.
Editing Node Properties
Do the following to change the node properties:
- Log in to EXAoperation.
- Select Configuration > Nodes
- Select a node and click Edit.
- Change the Node Properties and click Save.
Node Properties
The below table contains a list of properties that you can configure for a node.

| Disk Devices |
Add the disk devices the node will use. If you do not enter disk devices, the default set in the Default Disk Configuration tab is used. |
| Disk RAID | Select the RAID setup of the disks. |
| RAID 10 Redundancy | Required only if 'RAID 10' is selected in the Disk RAID field. This sets the number of copies of each datablock on the RAID 10 arrays. |
| External Number |
External ID of the node. This value determines the last octet of the node's IP address within the public network (Client-Side Communication Network). This is done by adding the External Number assigned to the node to the last octet of the public network IP address. Example: Client-Side Network Address + External Number = Client-Side Node IP Address

| Console Redirection |
Redirects kernel output to a serial console if selected. |
| Spool Disk |
The spool disk is used for storing database log files and coredumps (ext4 filesystem). Usually this is set to 'd02_data'. |
| MAC Private LAN |
Interface MAC address for the private network (CICN). |
| MAC Public LAN |
Interface MAC address for the public network (CSCN). |
| MAC SrvMgmt |
MAC address for the IPMI Interface for out-of-band management, if the out-of-band management is installed on the private network. For out-of-band-management, set EITHER the MAC SrvMgmt value OR the Public SrvMgmt IP Address. |
| Public SrvMgmt IP Address |
IP address of the IPMI Interface for out-of-band management, if the out-of-band management is installed on a dedicated VLAN or a public network. For out-of-band-management, set EITHER the MAC SrvMgmt value OR the Public SrvMgmt IP Address. |
| IPMI Group |
The name of the out-of-band management group. For example, iDRAC. |
| Extra Private Network Interfaces |
Optional. If the node connects to additional private networks, enter the MAC addresses here. Networks that have been set up as additional private networks are available here. |
| Extra Public Network Interfaces |
Optional. If the node connects to additional public networks, enter the MAC addresses here. Networks that have been set up as additional public networks are available here. |
| PXE Boot Interface | First private interface. |
| Install Node |
If this option is checked, the node will be installed when it is started. If a node is rebooted or started with the Install Node flag set, all existing data on the node will be deleted. |
| Wipe Disks |
Wipes data from disks if selected. |
| Force Filesystem Check |
Forces a filesystem check on the next boot of the node. |
| Force no Filesystem Check |
Skips a filesystem check on the next boot of the node. |
| Use 4 KiB Sectors for Disks | The sector size to use on the disks. |
| Label | Optional. A label for the node. |
Specify OS Memory Swap for Cluster Node(s)
Exasol recommends setting at least 10% of the RAM as OS memory. This memory is used by the operating system in case it runs out of memory for some processing. The memory you specify as OS memory is always reserved for the operating system and cannot be used by the database. Before you specify the OS memory, you can always check the total available physical memory for each node of the cluster from Configuration > Nodes > Cluster Nodes in EXAoperation. For more information about it, see Information About Nodes.
Do the following to allocate RAM for the OS memory:
- Log in to the EXAoperation with administrator credentials.
- Navigate to Configuration > Network.
- In the OS Memory/Node (GiB), specify the value that will be reserved as the OS memory.
This memory allocation is applied for all the nodes. For example, if you specify 4 GiB in this field, each node in the cluster will have 4GiB RAM reserved as OS memory. - Click Add.
