System Limitations

This article describes limitations on the number of nodes and clusters that can be configured in Exasol.

Exasol operates within an optimal range for the number of active nodes in a configuration, ensuring maximum performance and efficiency. If a deployment or database startup exceeds this range, it is declined to maintain system stability. When deployed as a Linux application on hardware or cloud instances, the optimal configuration supports up to 64 nodes in a single cluster. In a native cloud deployment on AWS, with support for multiple clusters, the optimal setup allows for 48 nodes across 3 clusters.
