Remote archive volumes now support Google Cloud Storage, which allows backups to be performed there.

To use a GCS bucket, configure the Archive URL as

https://<bucket name>.storage.googleapis.com

and use a "Service account HMAC" Access Key and Secret as user name and password, respectively.
