Background
In CHANGELOG: Extended Timestamp Fractional Seconds Precision the precision for TIMESTAMPs was extended.
Improvement
New aliases are introduced:
| Alias | Datatype |
|---|---|
| TIMESTAMP | TIMESTAMP(3) |
| TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE | TIMESTAMP(3) WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE |
This means that in SQL interfaces e.g. DESCRIBE, TYPEOF, system tables, and error messages the datatype TIMESTAMP(3) is displayed instead of the alias TIMESTAMP.
The functionality of these datatypes remains unchanged.
Changed behavior
Existing columns of the data types TIMESTAMP and TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE are now reported as TIMESTAMP(3) and TIMESTAMP(3) WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE, respectively.
