Upgrade from Exasol 6.2.x to Exasol 7.0.x

Make sure you have read the Update Considerations section before you start your system update.

Exasol 7.0.x brings in many new features and enhancements that are not available in Exasol 6.2 release. To get these benefits, you have to update from Exasol 6.2.x to Exasol 7.0.x.

Update from any version of Exasol 6.2 to the latest version of 7.0.x is an application update. It involves the following steps:

1. Update to the latest version of Exasol 6.2: Download the latest software package for Exasol 6.2 from the Exasol Downloads portal and update to the latest version.
2. Update to the latest version of Exasol 7.0: Download the latest software package for Exasol 7.0.x from the Exasol Downloads portal and update to the latest version.
3. Apply the necessary security patch.
4. Perform a level-0 backup. This ensures that all scheduled incremental backups complete successfully and are based on a backup using the correct version. For more information, see Run a Manual Backup.
