Upgrade from Exasol 6.1.x to Exasol 7.0.x

Exasol 7.0.x brings in many new features and enhancements that are not available in Exasol 6.1.x release. To get these benefits, you have to upgrade from Exasol 6.1.x to Exasol 7.0.x.
Upgrade from Exasol 6.1/Exasol 6.1.x to the latest version of Exasol 7.0 is an application update. It involves the following steps:
- Upgrade to the latest version of Exasol 6.1.x - Download the latest software package for Exasol 6.1 from the Exasol Downloads portal and upgrade to Exasol 6.1.x.
- Upgrade to Exasol 6.2.x - Download the latest software package for Exasol 6.2 from the Exasol Downloads portal and upgrade to Exasol 6.2.x.
- Upgrade to Exasol 7.0.x - Download the latest software package for Exasol 7.0 from the Exasol Downloads portal and upgrade to Exasol 7.0.x.
- Apply the necessary security patch.

Perform a level-0 backup. This ensures that all scheduled incremental backups complete successfully and are based on a backup using the correct version. For more information, see Run a Manual Backup.
