Update from Exasol 7.0 to Exasol 7.1

Make sure you have read the Update Considerations section before you start your system update.

Exasol 7.1.x brings in many new features and enhancements that are not available in Exasol 7.0 release. To get these benefits, you have to update from Exasol 7.0.x to Exasol 7.1.x.

Update from Exasol 7.0 to the latest version of 7.1 is an application update. It involves the following steps:

  1. Update to the latest version of Exasol 7.0 Download the latest software package for Exasol 7.0 from the Exasol Downloads portal and update to the latest version.
  2. Update to latest version of Exasol 7.1 Download the latest software package for Exasol 7.1 from the Exasol Downloads portal and update to the latest version.
  3. Apply the necessary security patch.
  4. Perform a level-0 backup. This ensures that all scheduled incremental backups complete successfully and are based on a backup using the correct version. For more information, see Run a Manual Backup.

The procedure to update to latest version of Exasol 7.0 or Exasol 7.1, and to apply the security patch is the same. For detailed instructions, refer to Update Procedure.

If the certificate used by Exasol is not signed by a publicly recognized certificate authority (CA) or if the necessary CA certificate has not been provided to the client to use for verification, the connection will fail.
If another certificate has not been uploaded using EXAoperation, a self-signed certificate is used by Exasol per default. Since this certificate is self-signed, TLS connections to Exasol will fail by default. If this self-signed certificate should nevertheless be used, the certificate verification method must be changed. For more information about TLS connection fails, refer to this Exasol Knowledge Base article.
